Vrisses village

Vrisses village, a relatively new village created in 1925, is considered one of the most picturesque villages of Apokoronas thanks to its beauty. The village is crossed by three rivers, with various springs and high plane trees. It is a very popular destination thanks to its traditional character. Visitors can enjoy the magnificent nature, dine in one of the taverns or buy traditional, local dairy.

Kournas Lake

Kournas Lake is the only lake with freshwater in the whole island of Crete! It is located just 4 km from Georgioupolis and is in a great location inbetween hills. Its waters have a gorgeous turquoise colour, while the combination of rocks and plants that surround it create a magnificent landscape. At the lake guests choose to do various activities such as relaxing walks, picnics or even swimming.

Holy Monastery of Saint George at Karydi

Built among verdant olive groves, just before the village of Vrysses at the area of Karydi, lies the Monastery of St. George. According to tradition, its name derives from a small settlement that existed in the area. The monastery had been abandoned for years, but in 1996 it was restored and reopened. Inside there is an olive mill with 12 arches that supports its roof, creating an impressive building.
